At HQ we believe a product is only as good as its ingredients. Ingredients are our ‘jam’, we go out of our way to source high quality, plant based functional ingredients. We are different to other companies as we source each one ourselves, so we can ensure they are 100% pure and natural.
It’s not just what we put in our products that make them great, it’s what we leave out that makes them really special. All our products and ingredients are gluten free, dairy free, sugar free and GMO free. There are no hidden nasties or artificial additives. You’ll find no fillers, anti-caking agents or maltodextrin in our blends. We only give you 100% pure ingredients - the way nature intended.
We source our ingredients from all over the world. Some are grown right here in Oz but what we don’t grow in Australia we source from around the globe. This way we source the best ingredients from their ‘natural habitat’ packed with optimum goodness and active compounds. At HQ we believe in ethically sourcing all our ingredients and working toward knowing how each of our farmers grow their crops.

We test so you only get the good stuff
To give you peace of mind that what you put in your body is only natural, all our ingredients are individually tested for heavy metals, pesticides and nasties. We test our individual products right here in Australia to ensure they only contain things that are good for you.
We want you to love our products like we do, so we have tested to ensure they contain lots of the good stuff you need. We have tested for nutrients and biological active goodies in our products, so we can be confident in our health claims.
Food Additives 101
Did you know that many 'Superfood' or plant-based powder blends contain hidden additives? Read on.
Maltodextrin
Maltodextrin is a common food additive. It is a white powder made from corn, rice, potato, wheat or tapioca starch. Even though it comes from plants, don’t think it’s natural. It is highly processed and treated like sugar by the body, raising blood sugar due to its high GI.
You probably haven’t seen maltodextrin on ingredient lists for superfood blends - but it still may be hidden inside as maltodextrin usually doesn’t need to be declared on the ingredient labels. It is common in many plant based powder blends which claim to be 100% natural. It's used to make a powder free flowing, extend shelf life and also makes a product cheaper as it is a ‘bulking agent’ added to much more expensive superfoods. Because we don’t use maltodextrin you only get pure ingredients.
Many fruit and vegetable powders are often made by extracting the juice from fruit or vegetables using solvents. This juice is then sprayed onto maltodextrin as a carrier to make a powder. So rather than getting 100% of the fruit, you are getting the juice sprayed onto a powder, which is cheaper to produce. Organic superfoods can still contain maltodextrin, so don’t be fooled by thinking it’s Organic so it must be good.
Here at HQ we have no Maltodextrin in our products. This also means our products may clump - just give them a shake before use.
We have scoured the globe for ingredients that have no maltodextrin. This is no easy feat and much harder than we expected! All our ingredients are only 100% pure fruit and vegetables, so when we say no hidden nasties we mean it.
Silicon Dioxide
Silicon Dioxide also known as synthetic amorphous silica (SAS) is a food additive used by food manufacturers as an anti-caking agent. It stops clumping in powders and ingredients from sticking together.
Silicon Dioxide contains nanoparticles which can cross the brain blood barrier. In fact, the European Food Safety Authority has called for a revaluation of the use of silicon dioxide in food due to these nanoparticles. Doesn’t sound like something you want to eat, right?
Here at HQ we want you to be confident that what you put in your body is good for you. We have no silicon dioxide or anti-caking agent in our products. This means our products may clump, but we believe a vigorous stir is better than eating a nano sized food additive. Our products really are 100% natural.
